was a tragic day for our neighbors in the USA and we extend our heartfelt
condolences to all who suffered
directly or indirectly in those tragic terrorist
attacks.

Annual International Cultural Weekend

Straw market Re-Opens |
|
Enjoy
international cuisine and entertainment in a relaxing atmosphere, at the
Seventh Annual International Cultural Weekend at the Botanical Gardens,
Chippingham, Saturday, October 21st and Sunday the 22nd.
The festival runs from 10:00am to 6:00pm. on both days.
To join in the festivities, show up at the gate, by the garden’s
northern entrance, with two dollars (entrance
fee for children under twelve is only one dollar.)
Parking
is not a problem. There is parking space at the garden’s northern
entrance. |

Just
three weeks following a calamitous fire that ravaged both the world
famous Straw Market plaza as well as The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism
offices, the market is open for business again.
More than 500 vendors, mostly
unforgettable ladies whose stall locations and craft skills have been
passed down through generations, are adjusting to new quarters on the
old site on Bay Street. Light canvas tent structures supported with
aluminum beams provide airy yet protective space for the colorful Straw
Market, long known as a "must" stop for cruise visitors and
hotel guests alike. |
