Meeting Caribbean Foreign Ministers in Nassau

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell met
Thursday in the Bahamas with his Caribbean counterparts for talks on
regional poverty and fighting terrorism.
Officials say the talks in Nassau are
also focusing on ways to fight illegal migration and organized crime.
The governments of the 14-member Caribbean Community say they will ask
the United States for more aid to help combat money laundering, widely
seen as a way of financing terrorism. |

The Bahamas, with 61 marinas
and 2,643 slips, is becoming one of the most competitive markets in the
world.
Several of the Marina's have
grown in the past few years, to name a few: Cat Cay (Bimini) holds
1,925, Freeport (Grand Bahama) 2,392, Green Turtle Cay (Abaco)802.
Some of the larger ones such
as Nassau (New Providence) has 1,906 and West End (Grand Bahama) has
3,244.
The number of boats that have
gone through the Bahamas customs in the last few years has doubled.

1 lb. cooked
fettuccine noodles |
1/2 lb. medium
cooked shrimp
3/4 lb. cooked
lobster or crawfish meat
2 1/2 Tbsp.
fresh minced basil
4 minced garlic
cloves
1/4 c. olive
oil
2 c. fish stock
Parsley and
almonds
|
|
In olive oil, saute garlic for
about 2 min. Add shrimp & crawfish meat and cook for
approx. 5 minutes. Stir in basil, parsley & fish stock.
Let simmer for 8 minutes. Serve over cooked fettuccine.
Garnish with parsley & almonds. Yield: 4 servings.
